What I wore in Panama: Travel Outfit Ideas

I recently spent a magical 4 days in Panama for my birthday (click here to read my blog post about my time there). Not only did I have an amazing adventure there, I had fun dressing up for each activity. Now if you're a fashionista like me, putting together looks is like a sport, lol. And if you're a blogger like me, you want to look your best in every frame. Packing for my trip to Panama was so much fun, and I wanted to share my looks with you and the details of each.

My typical strategy for fashion is usually comprised of the 2 Cs: cuteness and comfort (patent pending, lol not really). That is, when I'm on vacation, I want to look good, but not at the risk of being uncomfortable. Panama is a tropical country and during the month of April (which is when I traveled there), it is quite hot and dry as they do not quite enter their rainy season at that point. So as you will see, each outfit is breathable, flowy, and, of course, tropical.  Enjoy!

Flowy off the shoulder Floral Dress

Picture
Where I purchased: Target
Price: $30
Details: Off-the-shoulder; elastic top; high-low skirt
Where I wore: Out & about in Panama City
Accessories: Silver hoops, sunglasses

Y'ALL! When I say I LOVED THIS DRESS, I'm not playing. For my very first day there I wanted to wear something super flirty and tropical. I didn't have anything I wanted to wear as my debut in Panama so I searched high and low for this (no pun intended). When I finally found this beauty at Target I was ecstatic.

I was drawn to it by how flowy it was,  and the flowers and blue color just scream tropical. The  elastic portion around the bust is comfortable and the high-low skirt makes it super breathable. I travel light so I only brought 2 pairs of sandals to Panama (plus flip flops). The first pair is pictured here, which are neutral colored gladiator sandals with spikes from Espirit that I got for a bargain at Macy's for $15 a few months ago. I wear these while traveling a lot because they are one of the most comfortable sandals I own. I'm happy with my debut look. I think it turned out great!

Striped Spaghetti-strapped Jumpsuit

Where I purchased: TJ Maxx
Details: Pink stripes; pull on; belted
Where I wore: Rooftop dinner
Accessories: Silver hoops

If you haven't gotten the memo yet, jumpsuits are in this season, even more so than last year. I bought this jumpsuit about a year ago and have only worn it a couple times. I think I paid around $20 for it but I honestly don't remember. I love it because it super comfortable and an easy pull on, lol. It also has an elastic waste for a good fit on this curvy girl.

This look can be both casual and dressy, depending on how you style it. I paired this with my neutral sandals, which dressed it down. I wore this to dinner on the rooftop so the spaghetti straps allowed me to enjoy the breeze. This jumpsuit is a winner so you'll def see this on rotation more!

Peek-a-boo Back Striped Jumpsuit

Picture
Where I purchased: TJ Maxx
Price: $25
Details: Faux tie front; elastic, peek-a-boo back; palazzo pant; white pin striped
Where I wore: Out & about in Casco Viejo
Accessories: Yellow tassel earrings (NY&Co)

*Alexa, play "Drip" by Cardi B." Y'all this jumpsuit was the stunner of the trip! When I laid my eyes on this avocado-colored beauty I had to have it! Let's be real, the days of wearing shorts and a top on vacation are long gone. Nothing wrong with that, but fashionistas are wearing flowing pieces, colors that pop, and something that is a step above casual, but not exactly dressy. I felt that this jumpsuit embodied all of that.

Fun fact about me: when I pack for vacation, I envision where I'd be wearing it. No lie - I imagined myself in front of a gorgeous door in Casco Viejo, so when I saw this gorgeous blue door, I knew it was made for this jumpsuit!

My favorite part of this jumpsuit is the palazzo pant that gave it a retro look and made me look like I was floating instead of walking.

Fashion One-piece Swimsuits

Swimsuit #1
Where I purchased:
 TJ Maxx
Price: $30
Details: Front/side ruching; black, white, gold stripes
Where I wore: Hotel pool
Accessories: White swim shawl (from Amazon)

I bought this swimsuit a year ago and I still love it. It is a classic black with a pop of color. My fav part about this grown-up swim suit is the ruching, that is very forgiving. I also just love the dressy look of it.

Swimsuit #2
Where I purchased:
 TJ Maxx
Price: $30
Details: 60s style straps/bust; Front/side ruching; blue, white, gold stripes
Where I wore: San Blas Islands
Accessories: White swim shawl (from Amazon, not pictured).

I also bought this suit last year, but I love it because it has a 60s vibe. The stripes and the ruching are also very forgiving. Blue is one of my fav colors and the gold stripes give it a bit of a dressy pop.
I paired this with my white swim shawl and some shorts while en route to the beach.

For a 4 day trip, I thought 2 swimsuits was enough. I could wear the first on one day, and while it was drying, I had another fresh suit another day. I plan on adding some new swimsuits to my collection, so stay tuned!

Fishtail Short skirt with Black Top

Picture
Where I purchased: Skirt: JC Penney (gift); Top: The Limited
Details: Skirt has fishtail shape; top has criss-cross style straps.
Where I wore: Rooftop dinner in Casco Viejo

This was the look I wore to my birthday dinner :). I was tired from a long day at the beach, but I had to look fly. This adorable skirt was a gift from a dear friend. I love how it hugs my curves so well! It has a faux leather band too, which dresses it up a bit (I wanted to look more dressed up because after all, it was my birthday). I wore it with a long time fav black top, which is soft and stretchy with a cool basket weave criss-cross pattern.

I mentioned before the 2 Cs (Cuteness & Comfort), so I paired this outfit with my second pair of shoes, black sandals.

Floral Kimono on All White

Where I purchased: Amazon
Price: $15
Details: Sheer; floral.
Where I wore: To Panama Canal; out & about in Panama City.
Accessories: Navy blue tassel earrings (NY&Co)

This sheer floral kimono has become one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. The colors are uber tropical so I had to bring this to Panama. I wanted the floral to pop, so I wore it with all white errthang - white shorts and a white tank. While you're at the Panama Canal, you're basically outside for a while watching the ships and taking pics and it's hot, so you def want to wear something cool and comfortable.
